The Eden Gardens in Kolkata turned Pink and successfully hosted the first pink-ball Test in India. The 2nd Test match of the Bangladesh tour of India witnessed the historic moment for both the countries that started from 22nd November but eventually ended 2 days before as Indian bowlers dominated and India won the match on the 3rd day.
The Kolkata city that is well known for its love for sports, especially cricket created a new beginning in Indian cricket history. The Prince of Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly took a bold decision just after becoming the president of the BCCI. He convinced everyone including the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the match under artificial lights. Interestingly this was also Bangladesh’ first pink-ball Test match.
The match not only witnessed former Indian stars but also athletes from different sports and the political leaders like Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chief Minister of West Bengal state.
Team India also created numerous records in their 1st Day-Night Test match
After defeating Bangladesh in the 2nd test by an innings and 46 runs, team India created history in the history of Test cricket as they won four consecutive Tests by an innings margin. This was India’s seventh consecutive victory under the leadership of Virat Kohli which surpassed the previous record of MS Dhoni’s six consecutive victories in Test cricket for India.
The trio of Indian Pacers took 19 wickets in the 2nd test match and thus created a record for the highest for fast bowlers in India's home ground.
