The Indian Premier League has completed 12 years as the league started in the year 2008 and the last edition of the IPL .that is IPL 2019 was played from 23rd March to 12th May in which Mumbai Indians team emerged as the champion.
The thing that makes IPL more interesting thing is the different categories of awards and recognition given to players and team. The Purple Cap is given to the player who ends the IPL season with the most number of wickets. After every match of the season, whosoever is the leading wicket-taker gets the purple cap in the post-match presentation.

● IPL 2008, Sohail Tanvir (Rajasthan Royals), 22 wickets in 11 matches
● IPL 2009, R. P. Singh (Deccan Chargers), 23 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2010, Pragyan Ojha (Deccan Chargers), 21 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2011, Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians), 28 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2012, Morne Morkel (Delhi Capitals), 25 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2013, Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings), 32 wickets in 18 matches
● IPL 2014, Mohit Sharma (Chennai Super Kings), 23 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2015, Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings), 24 wickets in 16 matches
● IPL 2016, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad), 23 wickets in 17 matches
● IPL 2017, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad), 26 wickets in 14 matches
● IPL 2018, Andrew Tye (Kings XI Punjab), 24 wickets in 14 matches
● IPL 2019, Imran Tahir (Chennai Super Kings), 26 wickets in 17 matches
Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Dwayne Bravo are the only players to win the Purple Cap 2 times. If either of them will end as the top wicket taker in the IPL 2020 than either of them will also become the 1st player to win the cap for the 3rd time. Dwayne Bravo has taken the highest number wickets in a single season i.e. 32 wickets in 18 matches in IPL 2013.
